An Exclusive Event for the Glandore Member Network: An Introduction to Design Sprint (Jake Kanpp’s process) @ Glandore | County Dublin | Ireland

This is an Exclusive event for the Glandore Member Network; An Introduction to Jake Knapp’s Sprint process (How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just 5 Days) on Tuesday, January 30, at 6:00 p.m. The event is held at Glandore, Fitzwilliam Hall, Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin.

  • How many meetings and discussions does it take before you can be sure you have the right solution?
  • What’s the most important place to focus your effort, and how do you start?
  • What will your idea look like in real life?

Entrepreneurs and leaders face big questions every day. Now there’s a surefire way to answer these important questions; the SPRINT. Jake Knapp created the five-day process at Google, where sprints were used on everything from Google Search to Google X.

You may have noticed Facebook’s updated Newsfeed. This was a direct result of a Sprint. Design Sprints are used for updating existing products as well as creating and testing new ones. Here’s a medium post from one of their lead designers: https://medium.com/facebook-design/evolving-the-facebook-news-feed-to-serve-you-better-f844a5cb903d

Blue Bottle Coffee is valued at $700 million due to Néstle acquiring a majority stake in them. Before they ran a Sprint they were not selling outside of the U.S. They ideated and tested their new website using this process with Jake Knapp. https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/14/nestle-acquires-a-majority-stake-in-blue-bottle-coffee/

This is a Game Changer for your company. Join us for an introductory talk on the process.

About Lean Disruptor:
Lean Disruptor facilitates corporates to take their ideas and turn them into successful businesses.  We help companies develop new business models and identify growth opportunities using the Lean Disruptor framework for growth.

Lean Disruptor has worked on a number of successful consultancy assignments. The journey began in 2010, during an assignment in Trinidad. It dawned on us that we look at ‘design’ and ‘lean’ tools in separate silos. It was almost as if we let designers do their thing, while we the engineers focus on building the products. We started to look at integrating design tools with the set of lean tools in helping our clients build better products and reduce their risk of failure.

In 2017, we found Jake Kanpp’s Sprint process which we saw as Design Thinking and Lean Startup on Steroids and have integrated the process into our framework.

The three guiding principles of Lean Disruptor are:
– Focus on a change in mindset and create the ability to lead change;
– Build on the wisdom of others with collaboration, co-creation and healthy debate;
– Use a lean approach integrating it with design thinking to help our customers co-create game-changing opportunities.

FAQs

What is the refund policy?

Registrations cancelled by 8 January, 2018 will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given for registrations cancelled after this date.

What is the schedule?

The schedule is “make no other plans as this is all consuming!” Bootcamps run from 7pm on Day One to 7pm on Day Three and will require full dedication for the 48 hours.

Do I need to have a venture idea or team to participate?

You DO NOT need to have a team organised or an idea predetermined before starting the bootcamp. You will hear people talk and think out loud about ideas. There is a chance that if you organise a team in advance you might hear someone else’s idea and want to build a team with them. Organising into teams is purely up to the participants; we will not assign teams or ideas.

Who is the Bootcamp Director?

As of a few months ago, Blue Bottle Coffee was valued at $700 million due to Néstle acquiring a majority stake in them. Before they ran a Sprint they were not selling outside of the U.S. They ideated and tested their new website using this process with Jake Knapp. https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/14/nestle-acquires-a-majority-stake-in-blue-bottle-coffee/

In this workshop, you will be taking part in a Sprint. We are cramming the whole 5 days into one day!! We will bring you through every step of the process along with teaching you how to facilitate your own internal Sprints.

Design SPRINT

The sprint gives teams a shortcut to learning without building and launching.

Design Sprint is a concept developed by Jake Knapp at Google Ventures.

Entrepreneurs and leaders face big questions every day: What’s the most important place to focus your effort, and how do you start? What will your idea look like in real life? How many meetings and discussions does it take before you can be sure you have the right solution?

If you’re starting a project that will take months or years a sprint makes an excellent kick-off. Here are three challenging situations where sprints can help:

  1. High Stakes: You’re facing a big problem and the solution will require a lot of time and money. It’s as if you’re the captain of a ship. A sprint is your chance to check the navigation charts and steer in the right direction before going full steam ahead.
  2. Not Enough Time: You’re up against a deadline. You need good solutions, fast. As the name suggests, a sprint is built for speed.
  3. Just Plain Stuck: Some important projects are hard to start. Others lose momentum along the way. In these situations, a sprint can be a booster rocket: a fresh approach to problem-solving that helps you escape gravity’s clutches.

After this workshop, you will be more than prepared for running a Design Sprint in your own organisation.
