Business Model Innovation & Design Thinking Workshop
Course Profile:
A 2 day workshop that will enable you to build an innovative business model using Stanford University methodologies to successfully deliver your next project. The course is suitable for developing business models and projects in Film/TV/Animation/Games, such as a feature film project currently in development.
How do you imagine your organisation’s business model might look in two, five or seven years from now? Will you be among the dominant players? Will you face competitors brandishing formidable new business models?
In collaboration with Screen Skillnet, Business Model Innovation is about creating value, for companies, customers and society. Entirely new industries are forming as old ones crumble. New innovation start-ups are challenging the old ones, some of whom are struggling to reinvent themselves.
Design Thinking, a technique that has emerged out of cutting edge architectural practice, encourages the creation of alternatives and opens up new possibilities around problem solving. It refers to the cognitive, strategic and practical processes by which design concepts are developed by designers and design teams, and enables you to generate multiple ideas for testing and learning. It encompasses processes such as context analysis, problem finding and framing, ideation and solution generating, creative thinking, sketching and drawing, modelling and prototyping, testing and evaluating. In this course, we will apply design thinking to the validation of business propositions and models. It aims to ensure leaders are better prepared to discover hidden elements and ambiguities around an idea, uncover faulty assumptions and in turn make smarter choices.
The outcomes from this workshop include:
- Getting an introduction to the innovation methodologies from Stanford D-School (Design Thinking) to ‘Lean Startup’
- Understand the basic components of a Business model and explore the process of business model innovation
- Understand the basic components of a Value Proposition designer
- Learn how you can systematically invent, design and implement powerful new business models using a number of tools and processes introduced through the day
- Understand how you can question challenge and transform old, outmoded business models
